Scott Salling - Founder of F.I.T. Academy

Scott is the founder of F.I.T. Academy which began its journey in 2016. A Multi-sport athlete Scott graduated from Terry Fox Secondary in 2002 where he played football and basketball, and eventually was granted a scholarship for both sports. Scott has developed a deep passion for helping people find their path to better physical and mental health, as well as business development. F.I.T. Academy’s purpose is to create an environment for not only the clients to thrive in, but to provide a world class professional environment for fitness professionals to develop and grow their personal brands. A lover of music, animals and good energy, Scott would love to welcome you to the F.I.T. Academy experience. Let’s change the game.

Port Coquitlam Personal Trainer Miranda Covinha

Miranda Covinha - F.I.T. Academy

Miranda is the newest member of F.I.T. Academy team. She has been passionate about fitness from a young age. Miranda is currently in her fourth year at Douglas College and is studying for her bachelor in physical education and coaching with specialization in Kinesiology. Her future goal is to be a geriatric kinesiologist.

Fun facts about Miranda: her nickname is mini boss. Her favorite food is mashed potatoes and gravy. Miranda also loves to snowboard and embrace our beautiful mountain culture, and also play competitive softball when her schedule allows it.

Chantelle Zinger - F.I.T. Academy

Chantelle joins the F.I.T. team with a wealth of athletic experience and knowledge. A 3-sport athlete in high school, having played Lacrosse, soccer and basketball. Chantelle channeled and focused her skills to the basketball court. A standout player in high school, Chantelle seized the opportunity to play basketball for the Douglas College Royals, while pursuing her degree in Kinesiology.

Fun facts about Chantelle:

Chantelle loves animals and has a chocolate lab named Ranger. Her nickname is Zinger. A name she adopted during her time as an athlete.

Natalie riley - physiotherapist

From a high-performance athlete to a holistic human being, Natalie believes that healing is a natural process that can occur when we are pulled or pushed into change. This can come in many forms, including lifestyle shifts, physical, mental and spiritual changes, self-reflection, accidents, or injuries. How we respond is vital, as change is not a linear process. Drawing on her experiences and education, she can offer a space for those ready to be present and show up for themselves. Having found what brings her life nourishment, she works to guide others in exploring nourishment throughout her scope of practice. Her approach to physiotherapy is for those who have found a willingness to ask for help, moving through what might be uncomfortable or inconvenient with guidance. Natalie hopes to offer an enhanced level of care, fostering self-reflection and compassion in others. Consistency in showing up in the fluctuations knowing that we are the investment.

shawn swartz - physiotherapist - CULTIVATED HEALTH

Received Masters of Science in Physiotherapy from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2016. Prior to this I was a Member of Washington State University’s NCAA Track and Field Team where I earned a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology in 2013 and was a student intern strength & conditioning coach for the athletics department. I was fortunate to represented Canada at the IAAF World Jr Championships in High Jump.

I was born and raised in the Greater Vancouver area, fully immersed in the world of sports throughout my life with all the injuries to prove it. From a very young age, I was obsessed with the process of rehabilitation from both injuries and illnesses. As I former international- Caliber track and field athlete and cancer survivor I pride myself in advocating and promoting positive health behaviors in others.

Personally I am really passionate about within with patient of all ages and function although I have a special interest in treating patients in the sporting community and people suffering with persistent pain. I am currently a Member of Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s pain science & sport divisions. Currently pursing his Sport Physiotherapy Certificate.

My Philosophy and approach to physiotherapy has always been to empower his patients through education, safe and functional exercise progressions and manual techniques hoping to equip them with the tools they need to better maximize their function. I am also trained in intramuscular stimulation(IMS) I try to place a emphasis on spending time with my patients to help them better understand their pain.

In my spare time I love spending time with friends and family, reading, playing basketball, working out, going on outdoor adventures, and recently developed a love for surfing/bouldering.

Qualifications:

Evan came highly recommended through the F.I.T. Academy network, so it made perfect sense to bridge the gap and provide out clients with his RMT services. Evan graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy’s 3000 hour program. Growing up in the tri-cities Evan spent most of his time playing sports such as hockey, baseball and golf. Along with these he found a passion for an active and healthy lifestyle, leading him into massage therapy. As a therapist, he is determined to help others strive towards health and performance in their daily lives.

Through various manual therapy techniques, remedial exercises and educating clients on their bodies, he can help further avoid injuries and imbalances.

Fun Fact: Evans dad Peter Gain is a well known realtor in the tri cities for over 25 years, and has been a F.I.T. Academy client since 2018.

Dana Towsend

  • Registered Therapeutic Counsellor

  • Graduated from Simon Fraser University with a degree in Education, specializing in Counselling and Human Development, Educational Psychology and Early Childhood Education.

My name is Dana Townsend and I am a Therapist, Life Coach, Counsellor, facilitator, educator, tutor, writer, athlete, lover of food, life, positivity and happiness.​

Throughout my life I have taught and supported young people of all ages and all abilities. I am a Simon Fraser University Graduate where I competed for the varsity track and field program for 4 years. I completed a degree in Education specializing in Counselling and Human Development, Educational Psychology and Early Childhood Education. I am currently completing the requirements to become a Registered Professional Counsellor. I have a passion for working with young people to help them become the best versions of themselves. I have always believed in the power of positivity, especially having had my own struggles with depression and anxiety. My passion for helping others is evident in everything I do and I am always open to having people reach out if they need support.

I work with children and youth who are having challenges focusing in coping with:

  • ADHD/ADD,

  • Experiencing stress

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Lack of motivation
